Estate Overview

Produced by **Masie**, this **Amarone della Valpolicella Mazzano 2009** comes from the renowned **Mazzano cru**, one of the most prestigious vineyard sites in the Valpolicella Classica zone. The estate follows traditional winemaking methods, including the appassimento (grape drying) process, to craft a wine of great structure, concentration, and elegance, reflecting the heritage of the region and the distinctive personality of the Mazzano vineyard.

Terroir

The **Mazzano vineyard** is located on steep, terraced slopes with limestone-rich and clay soils, benefiting from excellent drainage and optimal sun exposure. These conditions, combined with the altitude of the site, contribute to the slow maturation of the grapes, concentrating flavors and enhancing aromatic complexity—ideal for the production of Amarone wines of great depth and longevity.

Winemaking

The grapes are hand-harvested and selected with great care before undergoing the **appassimento** process, where they are dried for several months to increase concentration. Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel vats, followed by long aging in large oak barrels. Extended bottle aging refines the wine, allowing it to develop its full aromatic complexity and balance.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet red color. The nose is complex and intense, offering aromas of **dried cherries, figs, prunes**, and **dark chocolate**, enriched by notes of **tobacco, sweet spices, leather**, and a subtle earthy touch. On the palate, the wine is **full-bodied, velvety, and powerful**, with rich flavors of dried fruit, cocoa, and spice. Balanced by firm tannins and lively acidity, it leads to a long, persistent, and elegant finish.

A profound and structured Amarone from the Mazzano cru—rich, complex, and age-worthy, showcasing the elegance and intensity of traditional Valpolicella winemaking.

Pairing

Best enjoyed with game, braised meats, mature cheeses, or as a meditation wine.
