Domaine History
Château du Cèdre, located in Cahors, is a reference estate run by the Verhaeghe family, pioneers of organic viticulture in the region. With a focus on purity, elegance, and respect for the terroir, the domaine crafts wines that showcase the depth and complexity of Malbec.
Terroir
“Le Cèdre” is produced from the estate’s oldest vines planted on the highest terraces of Cahors, on stony limestone and clay soils. This exceptional terroir allows for low yields and slow ripening, giving the wine great structure, minerality, and remarkable aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Intense deep garnet color. The nose reveals layered aromas of blackberries, cassis, violets, licorice, and hints of tobacco and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is powerful and velvety, with silky tannins, rich dark fruit, and a long, elegant, mineral-driven finish.
A majestic Malbec from Cahors, offering concentration, finesse, and superb aging potential — the flagship cuvée of Château du Cèdre.
Pairing
Perfect with lamb stew, venison, duck breast, or truffle-infused dishes.
