Medium ruby in colour with a purple rim. Aromas is full and focus with ripened red cherry, black cherry, blackcurrant, blue berry, black olives, dry herbs, toast, lots of wood smoke and spices (licorice, black pepper, clove) with a hint of cedar wood. Palate is elegant, savoury and multi-layered with plenty of black spices, dark chocolate, cocoa, mocha, wood smoke and black cherry. Texture is delicate with supple tannin. Ripened black fruits, black olives, forest floor, wood smoke and a touch of red flowers on the finish. Located in the heart of Côte de Beaune, Monthelie-Douhairet-Porcheret was created over 300 years ago. This particular wine has only some 5,400 bottles produced a year, using grapes from vines that have an average age of 50 years.
