Sélection de Grains Nobles (SGN): it means selection of the noble grapes in English, the wine maker will leave the grape on the vine long after the usual harvest time. With Alsace’s continental climate the botrytis fungus will develop across the grapes, reduce the water level, increase the sweetness and give special aromas to the wine.
This wine shows a bright gold color with yellow straw hue. It has intense tropical fruits aromas (passion fruit, pineapple, mango) and citrus notes (lime, lemon), followed by elderflower and honey with a hint of petrol flavor: very complex.
The wine is round, sweet yet balanced in the mouth: cooked tropical fruit flavors ( jam alike) and citrus dominate the tongue; rich sugar level and high acidity make the wine structure intense and fresh.
A well made sweet wine with a long finish.
