Historia del Fundo

François Villard is one of the most respected winemakers of the Northern Rhône, renowned for crafting precise, expressive wines that faithfully reflect their terroir. While Saint-Joseph is best known for its reds, Villard’s Mairlant Blanc highlights the refined and age-worthy potential of white Saint-Joseph, combining purity, structure, and elegance through meticulous vineyard work and sensitive winemaking.

Terruño

The Mairlant vineyard is located on steep granite slopes within the Saint-Joseph appellation. These well-drained, mineral-rich soils, combined with the region’s relatively cool climate, allow Marsanne and Roussanne to ripen slowly and evenly. The result is a wine with freshness, mineral tension, and aromatic precision.

Notas de cata

Bright pale gold in color. The nose is elegant and expressive, offering aromas of white flowers, stone fruits, pear, and subtle notes of honey, almond, and citrus zest. On the palate, the wine is finely textured and well-balanced, with ripe fruit supported by lively acidity and a distinct mineral backbone. The finish is long, refined, and gently saline.

Maridaje

Perfect with grilled fish, scallops, shellfish, roasted chicken, creamy risotto, or semi-aged cheeses such as Beaufort and Comté.
