Domaine History

**Château Montlandrie**, located in the **Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux** appellation on Bordeaux’s right bank, is part of the renowned Denis Durantou estates, the family behind Château L’Église-Clinet in Pomerol. Acquired in 2009, the estate quickly gained recognition for its precise, elegant wines that reflect the same attention to detail and craftsmanship as its prestigious Pomerol counterpart. Montlandrie stands out for its powerful yet refined Merlot-based blends, marked by freshness and complexity.

Terroir

The vineyard is situated on limestone plateau soils with clay layers, similar to those of Saint-Émilion, offering excellent drainage and mineral richness. This terroir enhances the aromatic expression, structure, and freshness of the Merlot and Cabernet Franc-dominated blend.

Winemaking

Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels (40% new) for 12 to 16 months. This winemaking approach highlights the purity of the fruit while adding complexity and elegance to the wine’s structure.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red color. The nose is expressive and complex, with aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and violets, combined with notes of sweet spices, tobacco, and subtle mineral touches. On the palate, the wine is silky and well-structured, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a persistent, elegant finish. The 2014 vintage offers precision, freshness, and excellent balance.

A vibrant and refined Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux—powerful yet elegant, showcasing Merlot’s richness and the limestone terroir’s freshness.
