About Winery

Lorgeril
A distinguished representative of the Languedoc terroir of Southern France
The Lorgeril family has been growing grapes in southern France’s Languedoc region since 1580. In 1620, they built Château de Pennautier, starting a winemaking tradition that has lasted for over 400 years. The château was founded by Pierre Louis de Pennautier, a well-known figure at the time, and by the 17th century, its wines were already served at the tables of French royal officers — a sign of the estate’s early prestige.
Since then, 12 generations of the family have been dedicated to growing grapes and making wine. Today, they own six estates, with a total of 250 hectares of vineyards, across eight official wine regions (AOCs): Cabardès, Minervois, Minervois-la-Livinière, Saint-Chinian, Faugères, Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages, and Languedoc.
All vineyards are farmed using organic and sustainable methods, showing the family’s deep respect for both the environment and tradition. The Lorgeril estates are not only among the oldest winemaking families in southern France, but also a lasting symbol of quality, heritage, and harmony with the land.
