Estate History
The Speri family, a historic producer in the Valpolicella region since the 19th century, is recognized for its mastery of traditional Amarone production. The **”Sant’Urbano”** Amarone comes from one of their most renowned vineyards, located on Monte Sant’Urbano, and reflects the Speri family’s commitment to quality, organic farming, and respect for tradition.
Terroir
The **Monte Sant’Urbano** vineyard lies in the heart of Valpolicella Classico, at an altitude of 280 to 350 meters, with volcanic and limestone soils. Grapes undergo the traditional appassimento process, where they are air-dried for several months to concentrate sugars, aromas, and flavors, resulting in an Amarone of great depth and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet red color. The nose is intense and layered, with notes of dried cherry, plum, fig, cocoa, licorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, yet balanced by vibrant acidity and silky tannins. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with flavors of dark fruit and balsamic undertones.
A superb Amarone Classico — rich, complex, and harmonious, offering depth, structure, and excellent aging potential.
Pairing
Ideal with braised beef, venison, lamb stew, or aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano. Also perfect as a meditation wine.
