Domaine History
Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer is one of the last great independent family-owned Champagne houses. Cristal, created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II, remains the estate’s most iconic cuvée. Produced only in exceptional vintages, Cristal reflects Roederer’s commitment to biodynamic viticulture, precision winemaking, and the purest expression of Champagne terroirs.
Terroir
Grapes are sourced exclusively from Louis Roederer’s own Grand Cru vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. Chalk-rich soils and exceptional vineyard exposures contribute to Cristal’s signature purity, minerality, and balance. In 2015, 25% of the grapes were grown biodynamically, with the estate progressively expanding this approach.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant golden hue with delicate, persistent bubbles. The nose is complex and pure, revealing aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits, almonds, and subtle toasted notes. The palate is silky, precise, and vibrant, showing concentrated fruit, saline freshness, and fine chalky minerality. The long, elegant finish reflects the harmony and aging potential of this outstanding vintage.
A graceful and luminous Champagne, combining intensity, finesse, and freshness — Cristal 2015 embodies the elegance of a sunny yet balanced vintage.
Vinification & Aging
Partial vinification in oak barrels (around 20%), no malolactic fermentation to preserve acidity and freshness. Aged for 6 years on the lees, followed by 8 months of bottle rest after disgorgement. Dosage: 7 g/L.
Pairing
Ideal with caviar, king crab, lobster, scallops, or delicate white fish dishes. Also pairs beautifully with aged Parmesan or truffle-based cuisine.
