Extremely dense and deep ruby in colour. Aromas is concentrated and vibrant with bramble, blueberry, black currant, mix fresh herbs (basil, sage, tarragon, thyme), black pepper, white pepper, spices, areca flower, toast, wood smoke, caramel and a hint of leather. Palate is rich, powerful and multi-layered with plenty of tobacco leaf, cured-meat like savouriness, black/white pepper, makauy pepper, beetle nuts, wood toast. Structure is firm with grippy tannin. Dried meat, forest floor, mushroom, mix spices (cloves, nutmeg and licorice in particular) and gentle smoke on the finish. This bottle of Rhone Valley beauty is adorable on its own, but will shine with a nice bowl of stew or roast beef with pepper jus. François Villard has been referred by the world renowned wine critic, Robert Parker Jr., as one of the “stars” in the Northern Rhone valley.
