Domaine History

Château Haut-Brion, located in Pessac-Léognan, is one of Bordeaux’s most historic and prestigious estates, recognized as a First Growth in the 1855 classification. La Clarence de Haut-Brion, the estate’s second wine, takes its name from Clarence Dillon, the American financier who acquired the château in 1935. It is crafted with the same care and attention as the Grand Vin, offering approachability while reflecting the estate’s noble terroir.

Terroir

The vineyards are planted on deep gravel soils over a clay and limestone subsoil, characteristic of Pessac-Léognan. This exceptional terroir contributes to the complexity, structure, and elegance of the wines, allowing for perfect grape ripening and balanced expression of each variety.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet red color. The nose is complex and refined, revealing aromas of blackcurrant, plum, graphite, and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is rich and elegant, with velvety tannins, layered dark fruit, and a long, harmonious finish with mineral undertones.

A refined and expressive second wine from Château Haut-Brion, combining depth, elegance, and drinkability — a beautiful introduction to the estate’s Grand Cru style.

Pairing

Perfect with roast lamb, beef Wellington, duck breast, or aged cheeses such as Comté.
