Vieux Château Certan, one of the oldest and most prestigious estates in Pomerol, has been owned by the Thienpont family since 1924. With a long-standing tradition of excellence, Alexandre Thienpont crafts wines of remarkable elegance, depth, and aging potential. Known for meticulous vineyard management and low-intervention winemaking, the estate consistently produces some of the most refined and sought-after wines of the Right Bank.

Situated on the high plateau of Pomerol, the estate’s vineyards benefit from a mosaic of clay, gravel, and sandy soils. This diverse terroir allows each grape variety to express its full potential: Merlot brings opulence and roundness, Cabernet Franc adds freshness and aromatic complexity, while Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure and length.

テイスティングノート

Deep garnet color with purple highlights. The nose is intense and complex, revealing aromas of blackberries, black cherries, violets, graphite, and subtle tobacco. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet graceful, with silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and a long, layered finish combining ripe fruit, spice, and mineral notes.

醸造と熟成

Manual harvest with strict grape selection, gentle extraction, and fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new oak, for about 18 months to enhance complexity and structure.

Perfect with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or aged cheeses such as Comté or Manchego.
