História da vinícola

Château de Beaucastel, owned by the Perrin family since the early 20th century, is a benchmark estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Renowned for its traditional winemaking and organic viticulture, Beaucastel is distinctive for incorporating all 13 permitted grape varieties in its blend, with a notable emphasis on Mourvèdre, contributing to the wine’s depth and longevity.

Terroir

The estate’s vineyards are situated in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, characterized by galets roulés (rolled pebbles), clay, sand, and limestone soils. The Mediterranean climate, influenced by the mistral wind, ensures healthy grapes and optimal ripening, enhancing the wine’s complexity and richness.

Vinificação

Each grape variety is hand-harvested and vinified separately using traditional methods. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled wooden and concrete vats, followed by blending and aging for about 12 months in large oak foudres. This approach preserves the purity of fruit while allowing the wine to develop complexity and depth.

Notas de degustação

The 2007 vintage of Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is considered exceptional, offering remarkable depth and concentration. The nose reveals intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries, garrigue herbs, leather, and licorice, with underlying notes of smoked meat and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet balanced by freshness and silky tannins. Layers of dark fruit, earthy nuances, and savory spice lead to a long, complex, and elegant finish. A wine built for aging, showcasing both power and finesse.

An iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape with intensity, structure, and elegance—one of the great vintages of Beaucastel, with superb aging potential.
