Domaine History

**Château Larrivaux**, located in the northern Haut-Médoc, has been a family-run estate since 1580. Uniquely managed by women for generations, the château produces wines known for their finesse, freshness, and balance. The vineyard’s diversity of grape varieties, particularly the significant presence of Merlot, gives the wine its characteristic softness and aromatic richness.

Terroir

The vineyard spans clay-limestone and gravelly soils, which provide excellent drainage and contribute to the balance between structure and elegance. The maritime climate of the Médoc region supports slow and even ripening of the grapes, enhancing aromatic complexity and freshness.

Winemaking

Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted with care. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, with about one-third new oak, adding complexity and softening the tannins while maintaining vibrancy.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby color with garnet hues. The nose reveals aromas of ripe blackberries, red cherries, and violets, layered with subtle notes of spice, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is elegant and well-balanced, offering silky tannins, lively acidity, and a long, fresh finish. The 2012 vintage displays harmony and approachability while preserving the typical structure of the Haut-Médoc.

A refined and expressive Haut-Médoc—smooth, fresh, and well-structured, showcasing balance and elegance with beautiful aromatic complexity.

Pairing

Ideal with roasted meats, poultry, or aged cheeses.
