Estate History

Château Port du Roy is a family-owned estate located in the commune of Quinsac, within the Bordeaux Supérieur AOP. With a focus on tradition and respect for nature, the estate produces classic Bordeaux reds that reflect the elegance and depth of the Right Bank terroir. The 2016 vintage is a testament to the estate’s commitment to quality and balance.

Terroir

The vineyards of Quinsac are located on a plateau overlooking the Garonne River, with clay and limestone soils that provide ideal conditions for the grapes. This unique terroir, combined with a temperate climate, allows for the slow and even ripening of the berries, resulting in wines with excellent structure, complexity, and elegant tannins.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in color with garnet reflections. The nose opens with inviting aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and violet, supported by subtle notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and harmonious, with smooth tannins, rich dark fruit flavors, and a lingering finish that hints at tobacco and graphite. A refined and expressive Bordeaux Supérieur — structured, elegant, and showing excellent aging potential.

Pairing

Excellent with grilled red meats, roasted duck, mushroom dishes, or hard cheeses like aged cheddar or gouda.
