Domaine History

Quinta da Mimosa is a flagship wine of Casa Ermelinda Freitas, one of Portugal’s most respected family-run estates. Located in the Palmela DOC, the estate is renowned for its dedication to the Castelão grape, crafting wines that capture the richness and tradition of the Setúbal Peninsula.

Terroir

The vineyards lie on sandy soils near the Atlantic coast, benefiting from maritime breezes that moderate the warm climate. This unique terroir provides optimal ripening conditions for Castelão, producing wines with concentration, balance, and a distinct aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby color. The nose is expressive, with aromas of ripe red fruits, plum jam, sweet spices, and hints of tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied, silky, and intense, offering layers of dark fruits, spice, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging, leading to a long, smooth finish.
