Domaine History
Founded by Bernard Duseigneur, the domaine has become a reference for biodynamic viticulture in the Southern Rhône. Now managed by his son Frédéric, Domaine Duseigneur embraces minimal intervention and native yeasts, crafting expressive wines that reflect the power and elegance of their terroirs, particularly in Lirac and nearby appellations.
Terroir
The vines for L’Astrolabe grow on north-facing hillsides in the Lirac appellation, at around 160 m altitude. Soils are deep sand and sandstone, contributing freshness and minerality to the wine.
Tasting Notes
Opaque ruby in color. The nose reveals layers of blackberry, black cherry, garrigue, smoked meat, and toasted spices. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet refined, with dense fruit, firm tannins, and a savory, mineral-driven finish. A complex blend that combines the richness of Languedoc with remarkable finesse.
A characterful Southern French red—textural, bold, and deeply expressive of its volcanic terroir.
Pairing
Ideal with grilled ribeye, wild boar ragu, herbed lamb chops, or hard cheeses like Ossau-Iraty and aged Gouda.
