Domaine History
Château de Ciffre is a high-altitude estate in Languedoc, managed by the Lorgeril family. Committed to organic and regenerative agriculture, the estate produces elegant, terroir-driven wines. The Grand Vin Faugères is crafted from the highest old-vine plots, reflecting the depth and finesse of this exceptional schist terroir.
Terroir
These old vines are rooted in brown schist and gneiss soils at 380 meters — the highest plots in the Faugères appellation. The Mediterranean climate is tempered by cool air from the nearby Pic de la Coquillade (650 m), preserving freshness and balance in the grapes.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant ruby color. The nose is intense and layered, offering black fruit, truffle, white pepper, and clove. The palate is full and fleshy, with silky tannins and harmonious balance. A wine of great depth, freshness, and complexity.
An elegant and powerful Faugères with finesse, aged complexity, and a refined mineral finish — ideal for cellaring.
Pairing
Perfect with grilled ribeye and béarnaise sauce, roasted meats, or mature cheeses.
