Domaine History
Domaine du Vieux Bourg is a family-owned winery dedicated to expressing the distinctive terroirs of Beaujolais through sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking. The estate emphasizes minimal intervention to preserve the purity of fruit and the unique identity of each cru. Their Côte du Py 2021 highlights one of Morgon’s most celebrated vineyard sites, renowned for producing wines of remarkable structure, complexity, and ageing potential.
Terroir
The grapes are sourced from the renowned Côte du Py hillside in Morgon, where ancient decomposed schist and volcanic blue stone soils provide exceptional drainage and concentrated fruit character. The combination of mineral-rich soils, ideal sun exposure, and mature vines produces Gamay with remarkable depth, freshness, and refined tannic structure.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with brilliant purple reflections. The nose offers expressive aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry, violet, and crushed stone, complemented by subtle hints of spice and earthy minerality. On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet elegant, with vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and layers of ripe red and dark berry fruits. The finish is long, refined, and mineral-driven, promising excellent ageing potential.
