Domaine History

Situated at the heart of the **Saint-Amour** cru in Beaujolais, **Domaine de la Pirolette** is known for its historic vineyards and commitment to showcasing the purity of **Gamay**. The estate takes its name from the local wildflower “pirolette” and is located on one of the highest points of the appellation, benefiting from exceptional sun exposure and diverse terroirs.

Terroir

The vineyards are planted on a mix of **granite, clay, and limestone soils**, bringing both aromatic intensity and mineral freshness to the wine. The parcels, located on hillsides, enjoy ideal sun exposure and good drainage, which support optimal grape ripening while preserving natural acidity and vibrancy.

Winemaking

The grapes are **harvested by hand** and sorted with care. Vinification involves traditional semi-carbonic maceration, combining whole-cluster and destemmed fruit, followed by fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is aged partly in stainless steel vats and partly in oak barrels, enhancing complexity while maintaining freshness and fruit purity.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red color. The nose is expressive and elegant, with aromas of **red cherries, raspberries, and violets**, layered with subtle notes of **spices and a hint of licorice**. On the palate, the wine is **juicy, silky, and well-balanced**, with soft tannins, lively acidity, and a smooth, fruit-driven finish. The **2019 vintage** offers charm, finesse, and beautiful aromatic precision.

A charming and elegant Saint-Amour—fresh, silky, and aromatic, reflecting the finesse of Gamay and the unique terroirs of Domaine de la Pirolette.
