Domaine History
Château du Cèdre, a benchmark estate in Cahors, has been managed by the Verhaeghe family for several generations. Pioneer of organic viticulture in the region, the domaine is known for its powerful and refined Malbecs, crafted with great respect for the terroir and minimal intervention in the cellar.
Terroir
The grapes for “Le Cèdre” come from the best plots of the estate, situated on high terraces with stony, limestone-rich soils. These conditions favor low yields and optimal grape maturity, bringing depth, minerality, and excellent aging potential to the wine.
Tasting Notes
Deep purple color with black reflections. The nose is rich and complex, offering aromas of blackberries, cassis, violet, licorice, and subtle hints of cocoa and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is intense and velvety, with fine-grained tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and a long, elegant finish marked by minerality and spice.
A majestic Cahors Malbec, combining power, finesse, and remarkable aging capacity — the iconic cuvée of Château du Cèdre.
Pairing
Ideal with venison, duck confit, beef stew, or truffle-infused dishes.
