Domaine History
Domaine Jacques Prieur publishes an exact-vintage sheet for this Montrachet Grand Cru 2018. This profile is limited to facts stated on that producer sheet.
Terroir
The producer describes a very sunny site halfway up the slope, with perfect drainage and east-by-southeast exposure. The soil is thin, stony and sodium-rich, with white marl outcrops.
Winemaking
Whole bunches were handpicked into small crates and pressed in a pneumatic winepress. The juice was cold-settled for 12-14 hours under temperature control. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing took place entirely in oak barrels, with 100% malolactic fermentation and 22 months of barrel ageing.
Tasting Notes
At the July 2020 tasting, the wine showed a light green-gold colour with sparkling silver reflections. The nose was reserved yet complex and powerful. The palate combined thickness, generosity and density, with aniseed, spices, lemon confit and strong sapidity through an exceptionally long finish.
A 100% Chardonnay Montrachet Grand Cru, fermented and aged entirely in oak barrels for 22 months.
Pairing
The exact 2018 producer sheet does not provide food-pairing guidance, so no specific pairing claim is included.
