Domaine History
Véronique and Aimé Guibert discovered the wild Gassac Valley in 1970. Geologist Henri Enjalbert identified its glacial sandstone and cool microclimate as exceptional. Uncloned Cabernet Sauvignon was planted in 1972, and Émile Peynaud guided the first red vintage in 1978. The second Guibert generation now continues the estate’s pursuit of freshness, elegance and terroir.
Terroir
Red glacial deposits in the Haute Vallée du Gassac support vines averaging 43 years of age. After a hot, dry growing season, an August storm brought 80 mm of rain and restored freshness. The grapes were harvested entirely by hand from 5 to 26 September 2022.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 vintage shows ripe fruit, a powerful and captivating bouquet, and a rich palate shaped by suppleness and finesse. The finish is generous, elegant and savoury, with remarkable freshness.
A solar yet finely balanced vintage, combining Cabernet structure with the cool freshness of the Gassac Valley.
Pairing
Decant three to four hours in advance and serve at 18–19°C. Pair with complex dishes, red meat—especially lamb—game and mature cheeses.
