Estate History

A winegrowing family since 1560.

Domaine Jean Durup Père et Fils presents its story as a family transmission carried from father to son across fifteen generations. In 1968, Jean Durup took over two family hectares and gradually rebuilt the vineyard of Château de Maligny.

His work on abandoned parcels, often very steep and difficult to cultivate, earned him the nickname "Fou de Maligny". Today, Jean-Paul and Valérie Durup carry this family legacy forward.

Values

Perseverance, precision, and loyalty to Chablis tradition.

The estate’s official texts emphasize production that respects local, loyal, and constant practices. This page keeps that idea simple: family work, patience on demanding slopes, and a clear search for freshness.

Temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification is highlighted by the domaine as a way to preserve the freshness and minerality of its Chablis wines.

Terroir

Steep, stony slopes rich in mineral character.

Château de Maligny wines come from vines located within the communes of the Chablis appellation. The domaine highlights well-exposed slopes, stony soils rich in minerals, and parcels that can reach 45 to 52 degrees of incline.
