Estate History
The Speri family, established winemakers in the Valpolicella region since the 19th century, is one of the historical producers of Amarone. With a deep respect for tradition and sustainable farming, Speri’s **”Sant’Urbano”** Amarone represents the pinnacle of their production, crafted from grapes harvested on the prestigious Monte Sant’Urbano vineyard in the heart of Valpolicella Classico.
Terroir
The **Monte Sant’Urbano** vineyard sits on volcanic and limestone soils, at an altitude of 280 to 350 meters, offering ideal conditions for slow ripening and excellent grape concentration. The grapes undergo traditional appassimento (drying process) for several months, enhancing intensity, structure, and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet red color. The nose is rich and complex, with aromas of dried cherry, fig, plum, cocoa, licorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety, with well-integrated tannins, balanced freshness, and a long, elegant finish layered with dark fruit and balsamic notes.
A majestic Amarone Classico — powerful, refined, and beautifully matured, offering depth, complexity, and harmony.
Pairing
Perfect with game meats, braised beef, aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano, or enjoyed as a meditation wine.
