Château Croix de Labrie Stella Solare Bordeaux 2018

Domaine History

Stella Solare is the white Bordeaux cuvée of Château Croix de Labrie. The 2018 release was produced in a limited quantity of 1,600 bottles.

Terroir

The 2018 Stella Solare comes from a 0.70-hectare, fully co-planted vineyard on limestone and gravel soils. Its 60-year-old vines combine 60% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% Sauvignon Gris.

Winemaking

The grapes were harvested by hand on 9 September 2018, sorted several times, destemmed, and pressed after a cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation and lees stirring took place in six barrels, with no malolactic fermentation. Three barrels were new and three were one year old, split equally between French oak and acacia from the Allier forest. The wine aged for eight months in barrel and fourteen months in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes

The 2018 shows aromas of honeysuckle, candied orange, and white peach. The palate is lush and creamy, with lemon and tropical fruit leading to a touch of honey on the finish.

A limited-production white Bordeaux with a Sémillon-led blend, barrel fermentation, and a fresh, creamy fruit profile.
