Domaine History

Azul Portugal is a project created to highlight the diversity and authenticity of Portuguese wine regions. By partnering with local producers, it brings together cuvées that represent the essence of each terroir. In Dão, one of Portugal’s oldest and most traditional regions, the project showcases the elegance, freshness, and structure that have made these wines famous.

Terroir

The Dão region, often referred to as the “Portuguese Burgundy,” lies in the heart of the country, surrounded by mountains that protect it from maritime and continental extremes. The vineyards grow at altitudes of 400–700 meters on granitic soils, yielding wines of finesse, aromatic purity, and remarkable aging potential.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby color with violet highlights. The nose is expressive, showing ripe red cherries, wild berries, and floral notes of violets, layered with hints of spice and subtle oak. On the palate, the wine is balanced and elegant, with refined tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, harmonious finish.

An elegant Dão red that perfectly balances fruit, freshness, and structure, offering both immediate pleasure and cellaring potential.

Pairing

Excellent with roast lamb, grilled beef, game dishes, or aged cheeses such as Serra da Estrela.
