Estate History

François Villard, one of the Northern Rhône’s most respected winemakers, began his career as a chef before turning to viticulture. His culinary background influences his winemaking philosophy, focusing on precision, balance, and aromatic complexity. “Les Contours de Deponcins” is his IGP Viognier cuvée, crafted from vineyards surrounding the famed Condrieu appellation.

Terroir

The vineyards are located in the Collines Rhodaniennes, on granite-rich soils with excellent drainage. These sites, just outside the Condrieu boundaries, share similar terroir characteristics, allowing for expressive Viognier with freshness and aromatic depth.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant pale gold color. The nose is expressive and elegant, with aromas of apricot, white peach, honeysuckle, and almond. On the palate, the wine is rich yet balanced, offering silky texture, juicy stone fruit, and a fresh, mineral-driven finish.

A refined Viognier from the Rhône hillsides — combining aromatic richness with elegance and freshness, a beautiful alternative to Condrieu.

Pairing

Perfect with grilled fish, creamy poultry dishes, Thai cuisine, or soft cheeses like Brie or Saint-Marcellin.
