Domaine History

Located in **Puisseguin Saint-Émilion**, a satellite appellation of Saint-Émilion, **Château Soleil** is linked to the Jean Soleil family, whose history at the property is documented by the Saint-Émilion wine council. The estate produces Merlot-led wines in the classic Right Bank style.

Terroir

The vineyards of Château Soleil are planted on clay-limestone soils, with excellent sun exposure (“Soleil” meaning “sun” in French), which enhances the ripening of the Merlot-dominant blend. The natural drainage and mineral-rich terroir contribute to the wine’s balance, freshness, and aromatic expression.

Winemaking

For the 2010 vintage, the wine was fermented in concrete vats and matured in barrels for 18 to 24 months. The blend reported for this vintage is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red with purple reflections. The nose offers expressive aromas of black cherries, plums, cassis, and violet, supported by hints of licorice, spice, and subtle toasty oak. On the palate, the wine is smooth and generous, with ripe tannins, well-balanced acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, mocha, and sweet spices. The finish is long, velvety, and elegant, reflecting the superb quality of the **2010 vintage**.

A beautifully structured Right Bank Bordeaux from a great vintage—rich, elegant, and ideal for aging, especially in Jeroboam format for special occasions.

Pairing

Perfect with roasted lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, or aged cheeses like Saint-Nectaire and Comté.
