Domaine History
Véronique and Aimé Guibert discovered the wild Gassac Valley in 1970. Geologist Henri Enjalbert identified its glacial sandstone and cool microclimate as exceptional. Uncloned Cabernet Sauvignon was planted in 1972, and Émile Peynaud guided the first red vintage in 1978. The second Guibert generation now continues the estate’s pursuit of freshness, elegance and terroir.
Terroir
Red glacial scree in the Haute Vallée du Gassac supports vines averaging 42 years of age. The valley’s cool nights and surrounding relief help preserve freshness; the 2016 vintage was harvested entirely by hand from 12 to 18 September.
Tasting Notes
Ripe blackcurrant and spice are carried by marked freshness. The palate is powerful yet velvety, with refined structure and a very long, elegant finish.
A profound yet fresh Languedoc red whose Cabernet structure remains polished and precise.
Pairing
Open three to four hours in advance or decant. Serve with roast or braised lamb, beef, game and mature cheese.
